site & project prompt
NEXT is a high-tech design & research hub, located in the Seaport District of Boston, Massachusetts.
The site is located on the sixth floor of a 12,000 sq ft commercial office space.
The challenge is to create a brand and concept for the company, while programming & accounting for the given square footage of each area.
concept development & process work
As history brings people together as they relive through the past, technology uses the past to create new inventions for the future.
This design is inspired by the rich historic architecture that the famous landmarks throughout the city of Boston have to offer. From the antique brass on the Massachusetts State House dome, the brick that makes up the Old State House, to the linear path on the Boston Freedom Trail that is represented through the strip lighting in the space as an aspect of way finding.
Implementing historic elements into the floor plan will remind users that despite events being historic, their relevance is timeless as they are what shape our modern day world.
